Drop the harware business, and focus on getting the complete device management software solutions that companies can't live without. (from cloud backup to security enhanced android forks)

I just discovered you're also from France. Hello from Toulouse!

That's quite like the idea I've been working on the last few weeks! My idea is like yours but for groups of people, more in a "newsgroup way".

Which technology did you used for the cross-platform client ?

Good luck!

RE: cross-platform client: I'd bet Qt.

you bet right ;) python + qt4 (one of the team member)

Qt ? No thank you... Maybe in a 64bit standalone version.

BTW: * How this will work in some Window Manager like dwm ? * What if I have no file manager installed ? * Can I use without using the mouse ?

I Guess its no to all of those questions. Maybe you're not our target :/

C++/Qt for me :) But if my app have some success, I'll write a Cocoa app for Mac.

Heavy regulation (due to customers protection) prevents small players to engage the market. Without few millions and an army of lawyers, you can't.

Isn't that exactly the problem which VC funding claims to address?

VCs will not tackle this because it's considered "risky".

I'm in the exact same situation, it's a real problem in Europe :(

Github is up ... at least when accessed from my town (Europe)

Limited liability and credibility (people DO read legal mentions!)

Marketplaces are hard to launch.

Try to be the leader in your district (post tracts, talk to people, geotargeted ads), then be the leader in the others nearest districts, then you city, then...

Thank you. Never thought about that.

The Consumerization of IT brings many opportunities for startups that have to seduce the consumers in order to get access the businesses. It's "Saas 2.0".

Not sure if it's SaaS 2.0, or just the reality of what SaaS provides the worker/business owner. It's good for both the company and that startup selling to the company, but there is a lot of education needed.

I had so many problems due to bytecode enhancement throwing raging ClassCastExceptions that I'll not even try version 2.

From now, my new projects are in JEE6.

Play 2 is not using that "magic" anymore, so you won't hit that problem (which, on the other hand, wasn't 'too' common).

Give it a try. It's worth it, honestly.
