They aren't really. It's basically like getting an auto generated ref/branch name for each new commit, with convenience rewriting every ref when you rebase.
It's a bit more convenient if you prefer referring to a non-leaf commit directly rather than relative to the leaf branch a la master~2
Having switched to jj I don't really agree. Everything I do is basically the same as with branches, just that I get randomly generated tip names rather than naming them myself, which is both slightly convenient and slightly annoying
The "a ton to learn about how to control an LLM" is remarkably similar to learning how to work with a new team of humans, perhaps easier. LLMs though eccentric are far more predictable than most humans.
What I love most about AI development is the lack of pushback when you see a completed new feature, realise it was a dumb idea and just pivot hard to something different.
A human would (rightfully) call you out for wasting time and resources. AI slurps up your feedback and dives in again with the same vigour.
The phishing protections of passkeys also works against "malicious QR codes". Which is a great example of why passkeys are kind of good, you stop needing to worry about a lot of attacks.
They act exactly like how I would act if I were dropped into someone's machine and tasked with accomplishing a goal "at all costs". Hunting around for context to understand what I'm dealing with and to an extent profiling the previous user for their workflows and competency.
Hoarding can be at least somewhat motivated by frugality: you never know what you'll end up needing someday, and you don't need to spend money on new stuff if you kept an old one around... somewhere...
I've heard stories of people who developed the habit of keeping virtually everything out of living through the Great Depression.
If by frugality you mean something more along the lines of minimalism then I agree
It "should" adjust, but in practice most software do not render spaces after periods properly. There is no in band signal to distinguish periods for sentence ends vs e.g. Mr. Thus there is a clear argument for double spacing in all contexts
Tools and scripts will have to be migrated of course, but I'm the brave new world of agentic coding it shouldn't be too hard.
The main pain is providing user support to developers who are curiously not very tech/OS savvy (has anyone else noticed this phenomenon?)
